  6. The author born in 1945 in Afghan-Badakhshan in a Sayed family (who are considered as the nd descendants of Prophet Mohammad) as a son of a reputed senator of the  (1969-72)  constitutional monarchy. He was a career officer who studied in rliament (1969cadet -72school, Kabul Military  University, completed his postgraduant studies in reputed military academies in ommander at the time India and the Soviet Union and served in different positions. He wasf  coordinator of armed forces beside President Dr. Najibullah between 1986-92.    دروظایف دفاعی در جنگ معروف جلال اباد سهم ایفا کرد ودرمسیر راه جلال اباد بشدت زخمی گردید .  In the last twenty years he based in Germany and works as researcher of defense studies.

  7. The topic is unique. There is no any detailed research about the battles waged by the so-called Mujahedeen before and after the topple of the Najibullah regime in the Afghan capital, Kabul. The book is not simply a chronicle of events or military history, but analyses the reasons beyond the events in their geo-strategic context, first of all, what was the reason, the real motivations  of destroying the Afghan capital and annihilating the country’s economy and social infrastructure.  He analyses the armed militias of different tanzeems and who  were behind them and who incited their struggle for grabbing power. “Kabul must burn”-was the intention of Major-General Akhtar Abdul Rahman, director-general of the Pakistani intelligence, ISI till 1988. His successor, BG Mohammad Yousef elaborated in his book The Bear’s Trap that dispersing the strong armed forces of Afghanistan with committed, professional officer corps of fifty years experience and continuity and eliminating of the secular state, secular education system were the ISI’s priorities to support these militias to completely destroy the secular Afghan state. Another motivation, well researched by the author  is the U-turn in Russia’s Afghan policy after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Masoud’s Russian connections. The author provides a good picture of the formation of a proxy war between regional and global powers by local actors on Afghan soil. The author well explains the circumstances beyond the stage.  The author with a literary languages provides a grim, but realistic picture of war crimes and crimes against humanity have been committed in the battles of Kabul and disperses false legends.

  8. The first volume of the book will be followed by the second volume dealing with battles, events and backgrounds which led later to the advent of the Taliban in very chaotic war theater. This second volume of “The Battles of Kabul” is coming soon. The book serves as historic documentary as well as the first stage of a larger research regarding the military activities between 1979 and 2001, even to recent days. These researches can provide guidance what should be expected after 2014, the departure of international forces from Afghanistan.

  9. The edition in English of this book is highly recommended to let acknowledge the world these unforgettable realities.
